FAQs

Common questions we get:

- Can I use Medicaid at your office to get glasses? No, our office only provides services for exam and contact lenses. Glasses purchases are made separately through the Eyemart optical, or where ever you choose to take your prescription.

- If I’m diabetic, can I just get a regular, non-dilated exam? Not unless you’ve had a dilated eye exam preformed in the last few months, and it depends on the severity of diabetic eye disease (if present).

- Can I use my vision plan to cover exams for diabetes, or other ocular disease checks? No. Unless you are being followed by an ophthalmologist, our office policy is to evaluate your eye health to the standard of care determined by the AOA, and these services are not covered under routine services outlined by our vision plan. These CPTs and diagnosis codes are billed to your medical plan. If your vision plan does include diabetic services, it is to the doctors discretion on which plan is billed.

- Why do I need a contact lens exam yearly? Wearing contact lenses can increase the risk of serious eye health issues, therefore the state of Indiana requires an exam be done yearly to renew your contact lens prescription.

- What do I do if I got my new glasses, and I feel like the prescription isn’t correct? Please contact us! We want you to be in a prescription that works for you and is comfortable. There is no charge to get your prescription rechecked as long as you come back within 3 months of your exam. After 3 months, there is a refraction charge of $35.

- Why do I have to come back for a follow-up after my contact lens exam? First and foremost, we want you to trial the contacts you were given at your appointment. Are they comfortable, do they feel like they’re moving, is your vision good out of them? We have you back for a followup to get feedback on those things. Our doctor is also going to evaluate the contact lens and the health of your eye under the slit lamp to make sure there are no reactions or other adverse affects from the contact lenses. We do not charge for our follow-ups, as long as you come back within 3 months.
